The expiry list
Time for the Lykki Q3 All Hands meeting. Time for some beers, food and fun. Time to check our results from the past quarter and reset goals for the final push of the year.
Our theme was based around setting goals in your personal life and the exercise we did was to write down our Bucket List goals. These are the things you dream of accomplishing before you die. During my keynote talk to all our partners I switched up the term Bucket List for Expiry List. I wanted to challenge then to think we not only need to set personal goals but recognize we only have a limited amount of time to accomplish them. For example, if a bucket list goal is to cycle across France, it would only seem logical that you could not achieve it if you are too old to ride a bike.
Sometimes we get so caught up in our daily lives and the proverbial rat race that time flies by and we miss opportunities. Creating an expiry list is a great way to take a stock of your life's goals and add a time limit to them.

I remember when...
Some strange guy was driving up and down our street tossing these yellow books on everyone's doorstep. What is this book used for?
OK, I'm old enough to remember the awesome Sears Catalogue and the toy section where I would dream of the toy Santa might bring me or the Canadian Tire catalogue and even the classified section of the newspaper where I found my first car to buy and apartment to rent but technology has replaced all that. And that's a good thing at least from an environmental standpoint.
I think the only good part about these yellow pages is the fact my kids are just old enough that they will remember the books and reminisce many years from now .... I remember when they still made the Yellow Pages.

Ready Set GO!
Back to school season is here and at Lykki we are preparing for a busy season.
I was touring a few new partners in the warehouse and we were all impressed by the volume of inventory ready to ship to customers.
Lucas and Hailey happily showcased the products and kept the tour interesting. Lucas you're such a BRUTE!

Waffles and Trucks
What a whirl wind morning! It started with a partner appreciation breakfast in the parking lot. Our executive team of Nabil (Mr No Stick), Shawn (Baconator) and I ( uhhhh I can't name myself) served up Waffles, Bacon, Coffee, Juice Fruit and Red Licorice(???).
It wasn't our first rodeo cooking in the parking lot but with two waffle makers and our DJ music system we kept blowing the fuse circuits, but we prevailed. Best waffle tip is when you add the bacon AS you add the batter to the waffle iron. Bacon gets trapped inside! Yumm.
Same time as the breakfast we decided to park all our trucks in a row and snap a couple of photos - then our came our costumes. It was kind of crazy for a while but we took a couple of cool shots. It was a fantastic way to end a week and get ready for the busy back to school season.Cheers

Howdy Partner
Today we welcome two more partners to the Lykki family.
Durning our Monday company wide "Luddle" (Lykki Huddle) we have a tradition where new partners are introduced and given a hat to wear all day. The only way to get rid of the hat is to ask another partner "what's my name". If they can't answer correctly then the new partner gives them the hat. It becomes quite a game and I guarantee it helps break the ice for everyone.
Tony was caught off guard and graciously accepted the hat from Lea Anne.

There's no magic in this idea.
While driving thru Portland today I had to stop into Voodoo Doughnuts. It is a doughnut shop out of the ordinary. And that's a good thing.
I love businesses that take a regular or even boring industry and make it fun, memorable, unique and remarkable.
That's what Voodoo has done for doughnuts and as a result the lineup at 10am was out the door and down the block.
Nothing but ordinary is all I can say to describe the place as we finally ordered a maple glaze with full strips of bacon on top. Every doughnut was a work of art and topped or filled with some crazy concoction or mixture and the prices were $3-4 per doughnut. But damn our bacon maple was awesome.

Anyone can buy the ingredients and make a doughnut - or a cup of coffee or sell office supplies - so what makes some companies like Voodoo stand out? I think it's the passion to be unique, be different, be remarkable and wow their customers with something people didn't even know they wanted till it was presented to them. Again, we can buy a doughnut anywhere - but not a Voodoo Doughnut experience!
As Voodoo says... The magic is in the hole!
Cheers

Make mine Pomegranate Mango!
Lykki tradition is alive and well as we celebrate another year of impromptu "no special reason other than it's sunny" ITALIAN SODA DAYS.
Italian sodas are the delectable yummy and oh so refreshing beverage of the gods on a hot day. Made with sparkling spring water and gourmet syrups over ice and topped with whip cream. Our Partners love the surprise on a hot day and the whole office just goes into party mode as we mix, slurp, chug and cool down in the company of our coworkers.
The customers we hit were blown away as we stormed in and set up a party beverage station in their kitchen and started mixing up hundreds of hand made custom Italian sodas for all their staff. We even made trays of drinks and snuck into offices, meetings and boardrooms with our delicious treats. Customer and their staff were so excited and really had fun with the party. Even some stuffy executives who came to see what the commotion was all about seemed to get in on the festivities. An hour later we were cleaned up and off to the next customer. Everyone went back to work with a smile on their face!
Cheers
