Another client coffee demo

Another client coffee demo with our amazing VKI coffee machine and our locally roasted Caribeans Coffee beans.
400 staff at this client and they loved the taste and how easy the machine is to use.
But - the best part is our pricing. Our overall costs compared to their current coffee suppler will be 15-20% less!! That can be a savings of tens of thousands of dollars for this client.
Call us for a vip demo. We are happy to come to your office.
Cheers.

Why you should swap a corporate boardroom for a company kitchen

Great idea - board rooms are boring.

http://www.fastcompany.com/1836414/why-you-should-swap-your-corporate-boardroom-company-kitchen

Turns out, preparing and breaking bread with clients can nurture both the people at a company, as well as nourish its bottom lines. This is the story of what happened when the principals at Universal Value Advisors traded their Brooks Brothers for butcher's knives.

5 smart questions to keep asking yourself in any business.

A smart 5 questions to keep asking yourself in any business.

Before you write the code, buy the domain name, design the logo, rent the office space or print the business cards ask yourself these questions.

5 questions for every entrepreneur to answer

1. Who is your customer?
2. What does she want to do, but can’t?
3. How exactly does your product or service help her?
4. Why will she choose your product or service above your competitor’s?
5. How (in words and actions) will she tell people about it?

Don’t start with your product road map—start with your customer’s story.

New York Breakfast WOW

Sometimes you stumble upon a place while traveling that is an "institution" in that city.
This morning I had a bit of extra time while in New York and decided to get out of the hotel and find a small neighborhood spot for breakfast ( love my breakfasts).
I came across a line up at 7:30 in the morning to a restaurant on a side street just off from Rockefeller Center and knew this was just what I was looking for. I was able to dodge the line up and sat at the counter in one single open seat. And that's when the magic began.
The counter bar was about 30 seats long and serviced by Carlos who seemed to have roller skates on since he was zipping up and down the line at a furious pace the entire time I was there. He had been working at the Evergreen Diner for 8 years (a junior by Evergreen standards) and was very efficient in his job. What was so special is although he looked busy he didn't "act" busy. He made you somehow feel like you were the only customer he had. You didn't wait or want for anything and he spent time asking you where I was from and even customizing my meal when I was undecided between two dishes ("I'll just make you a plate with a bit of both, OK?"). He seemed to have his customer service on radar on high because he knew exactly when to top up the coffee, bring you a water and the bill. A few seats down a girl dropped her fork on the floor and before the sound of the metal hitting the tile floor had stopped ringing Carlos had a new fork laid on the counter I front of her as he whipped by with not a word spoken.
Amazing service that resulted in a nice tip from me and I'm sure this is the case with many other customers.
The food at Evergreen was good as far as breakfasts go but any restaurant has access to eggs, bread and bacon. But not every restaurant has the culture to make staff like Carlos shine. It's the people that people are lining up for, not the food.
Carlos you are a true master at your craft!

Snack Attack!!

Here comes the Snack Attack Rack as a congratulations from Lykki.
This customer just added several hundred new employees and a new facility because they won a new contract and are expanding rapidly.

It was a fun way for Lykki to say congrats.
The Snack Attack Rack also had some NERF Guns strapped to the back of the rack for some fun post snack attacking of the NERF kind.

Stock Alert Online Feature

Recently we rolled out a new feature online that you may have seen.
It's a nifty feature that will email you when an item that is out of stock arrives back in our warehouse.

We try our darnedest to never be out of stock on any items and that can sometimes be challenging with over 50,000 items online. There is always a small percentage that is out of stock from supplier shortages or when a customer buys out our entire stock in an unexpected bulk order.

This online feature was a suggestion a few customers gave us thru our checkout feedback. They wanted to know when an item the saw online that was out of stock - when would it come back. So this feature let's customers who click the button know immediately when we receive the new stock in our warehouse. They are literally emailed within minutes of arrival on out loading docks so they can place an order that day.

So far customer seem to be really enjoying the feature. We will also continue to monitor stock and do our best to keep out out of stock items to as low as possible.

Toronto tradeshow.

Over the next few days I'll be in Toronto with some of your Lykki partners to attend the Canadian independent Stationers conference. Each year our buying group meets to exchange industry news, ideas and plan for the year.

This year we are excited to see Canadian customers supporting local office suppliers instead of the large multi nationals like Staples, Office Depot and Grand and Toy.
What we are learning is that the big players are declining in market share due to cutbacks that result in poor customers service while independent stationers are growing by staying focused on service service service.

What the buying group does for the independent stationers is it allows us to buy at the same price as the big guys and offer as good or better pricing. So once price is not a factor what is left is service and customers would rather support a local supplier with exceptional service and prices over a large US based multi national.

Things are looking bright for 2015.

Cheers

Quarterly Theme - Customer Happiness

Each quarter at Lykki we have a theme to focus on in improving the business and culture. This quarter we thought our theme should be around Customer Happiness. Although it seems obvious that every day is a focus on customer happiness, we wanted to dive deep into each process and system at Lykki that touched our customers. We call them our Moments Of Truth or MOT's.
MOT's like the picture here is a step by step process of how we want the customer experience to be each and every time. Consistency is key!!

This quarter we wanted to re- document each process and look for additional WOW moments like credits and returns. How about offering one year to return something? Or when an item is returned, we promise to credit the customer in 24 hours?
These are a few processes we have implemented in the past so each time we do this exercise it gets increasingly more challenging to out do ourselves. But that's the fun!
